Purposely went to both streets in KL just for my assignments about Malaysia Street.
Thanks really much for both loved ones, Evelyne and KennethChin that spent their time for me.
However, we did enjoy really much and had lots fun and satisfaction!
I would like to have the 2nd chance to experience another street of Malaysia.
In Kuala Lumpur's you'll find a famous street- The ChinaTown's Petaling Street.
A wide shopping street to converts to a seemingly endless stretch
A wide shopping street to converts to a seemingly endless stretch
of food stalls and open air restaurants by day and night.
Forget about all the fancy high class places, fancy decor or fancy stores.
The most exciting food and shopping place in Malaysia is found on the street.
The most exciting food and shopping place in Malaysia is found on the street.
You won't find fancy decor, mood lighting or crisp tablecloths. It's purely about the food.
Food cooked in a furious fashion, served on plastic plates, and eaten whilst standing,
or if you're lucky perched on a plastic stool that teeters precariously on the side of the road.
Forget about eating gentlely, gradually, slowly, beautifully or whatever we used to be.
Now is the day and time for yourself to be different!
Eat whatever look you want to, as long as you happy, comfort and enjoy the food!
No one is looking at you! You are just like a free bird! Haha!
This is my always favorite! - Apam Balik
The look of the food really not good at all, but the taste of the food really yummy!
So who cares?
Back in the olden days when Malaysia was still known as ‘Tanah Melayu’ or Malaya,
the Chinese had come to this country to work at the tin mines.
However, during the Selangor Civil War, the tin mines were temporarily abandoned.
The Chinese returned after the war, only to find the mines flooded.
Yap Ah Loy, an influential Chinese figure back then, had opened a tapioca mill
on Petaling Street in his bid to persuade the Chinese to stay on.
To this day, Petaling Street is sometimes called ‘Chee Cheong Kai’, meaning ‘Starch Factory Street’
in Cantonese, referring to its history as the centre for the production of tapioca flour back then.
Since then, Petaling Street has been given a facelift.
Gone arthe patchy roads, broken pavements and colourful umbrellas
attached to wooden pushcarts lining the street on both sides.
A green awning covers the length of the street,
acting as a roof to shield vendors and shoppers from the heat and the rain.
An Oriental-style archway with the words ‘Jalan Petaling/Petaling Street
Soya Bean for RM 1.30 per cup! Very very tasty and healthy!
So happy! Haha
Cheap stuffs?? No longer.
Remember, most of the items sold here initially bear a higher marked price,
so don’t be afraid to bid lower, and feel free to shop around The ChinaTown's Petaling Street.
It is the culture here and you will find it interesting.
Tata for The ChinaTown's Petaling Street.
Another street to walk on. Central Market next! =D
Central Market is a one stop shopping centre for Malaysian products and the wide variety of Malaysian cuisine.
Central Market is located at Jalan Hang Kasturi, a few minutes away from Petaling Street.
It was found in 1888 and originally used as a wet market,
while the current building was completed in 1937.
It has since been classified as a Heritage Site by the Malaysian Heritage Society
and it is now a landmark for Malaysian culture and heritage.
It is also strategically located within public transport facilities.
One of the three shopping streets on the ground floor of the popular Central Market,
Lorong Melayu (Malay Street).Which is the street that I like it really much.
I enjoy and feel so good when walking in the street.Very nice and comfort atmosphere.
and not to forget some stores like Sabah to shop for hand, carved wooden masks and souvenir blow,
guns made by the aboriginal people of Malaysian Borneo.
Malaysia's natural products are also well represented with organic tea,
dried exotic fruits, curry pastes, and more for sale at bargain prices.
The Central Market is also a great place for an introduction to other facets
Dance Aloha! We required to wear on the flower wreath and say Aloha!
This is the ever first store that owned by both Chinese that I saw in Malay Street.
They are just so friendly and kind to everyone that visited their shop.
Chia Art is in Malay Street too! Nice one!
She told and taught us that the hand sign of "six" means Aloha! =D
Awesome experiences as a Malaysian that I should have it I got it here.
I just simple love this place!
The proposed exercise is to give Central Market,
a building with a 120 years history a new identity to attract younger generations
to appreciate the need for racial tolerance and the need for racial integration.
As we all know, Central Market is a historic landmark of Kuala Lumpur and
there can be no other better place to remind the younger generations of the
Malaysian Culture that has been so entrenched that people of all races can come
together to live in peace and harmony.
I just simple love this place, this street of Malaysia that full of Malaysia Couture.
Experience and feel it then u will love it.
Low quality pic from Iphone but awesome people in it! =D
Great and awesome experience today! Ran in the rain! Haha
